Are there physical requirements?

Yes, everyone must be able to move about with a degree of balance, be able to squat/bend at the waist to enter and exit the cockpit area, be able to climb up and down a short ladder / steps into the salon area, and step aboard and off the vessel at the dock. When in doubt please give us a call and we can usually help clarify if there will be concerns with any of your abilities.

Is there a Waiver?

Yes, a waiver shall be completed for each excursion before boarding. A copy of the Waiver can be found on the bottom of the "Excursions" page. Reviewing it before arriving saves us time! If you have questions feel free to call 1-850-832-4952

What about sea sickness?

Our Island Packet is very stable but it is still a boat in the water! If you know or if you even think that there is a chance of sea sickness please take the necessary precautions. Once we leave the dock we want to have fun and enjoy the day, don't be "that guy or girl"!

Do you accommodate children?

We love children, but due to the nature of sailing, the equipment aboard, and the systems throughout the vessel we do limit our young passengers to 12 years and older.

Can we participate in the sailing operations?

Absolutely! We would love to include you and really enjoy teaching as we go!

What to expect when we arrive at the marina?

Upon arrival there are two small parking lots as well as parking areas along the side of the road. We recommend as few as vehicles as possible.
We also recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early for a safety briefing, general orientation of the vessel, and waiver completion.
Bathroom facilities are available at the marina.
Be prepared to have a great time!

Is there a bathroom aboard?

Yes! There is an enclosed bathroom and everyone will be instructed in its use when the need arises.

Why do you not require a deposit?

Good question. First, it is simply easier to conduct business this way. It’s less of a hassle for both of us. Second, just as you research charters before you spend your hard earned money, I qualify potential clients before ever booking the excursion. I talk with each person, gathering information getting to know you, your expectations, requests, etc… If at anytime I feel we would not be a good match spending time together on the water as friends I will simply recommend that you find another sailing service. Ultimately, I pick clients like you should pick your Captain, someone that is trust worthy and that you feel comfortable with. My clients take me at my word and I take them at theirs..

What do you accept as payment?

Cash please! If cash represents a problem, please let us know up front and we may be able to accommodate other methods.

What if the weather is bad?

Well like they say around Panama City, if you don’t like the weather wait 5 minutes and it will change. Please do not decide to cancel an excursion without speaking to me first. The weather around Panama City can be tricky at best. Also remember our cockpit has a full enclosure that makes sailing comfortable in all conditions! With that said you can be assured that we would never put our clients in a dangerous situation.

What is included?

A Great Attitude from Captain and Crew!
A clean Boat in great condition!
Ice, “for your food, water, assorted soft drinks or alcoholic beverages”. (Soft and hard coolers full of ice available upon request.
We do provide water and assorted soft drinks.
Instructional information on sailing and general history of the local area.
100% effort on every excursion to provide all clients with a great and memorable day on the water!

What do we bring?

A great attitude! Willingness to learn, relax, and have fun!
Hat and towel
Clothing that fits the weather conditions (it's best to layer, it may be cool early and late in the day). Rain gear is optional during the summer months due to the showers that may develop.
Sun glasses, polarized sunglasses are nice to have. Tints that work the best are amber, copper, or vermilion lenses for the clearest visibility into the water).
Comfortable non-marring shoes (Please, no black soles). Deck shoes, tennis shoes usually work well, however, If your shoes mark the deck be prepared to remove them! Thank you in advance.
Sunscreen protection “lotion’s and/or clothing” Sunscreen Sprays are a big no-no. Don’t forget your lips!
Whatever you would like to drink or eat. There is a freezer and refrigeration aboard, however, (please talk with the Captain before you go shopping, space may be limited). We can furnish soft and hard coolers with ice upon request!
